ESET isa trusted partner in the field of cybersecurity. Over the past 30 years, ESET has grown into a cybersecurity expert with more than 100 million users in 180 countries. From their office in Sliedrecht, the cybersecurity experts at ESET Netherlands help both consumers and organizations in their fight against cybercrime.
In Nick van der Wouden's years at ESET, the team has grown from 30 to 70 employees. It is a young team, with an average age of 30. Despite a low absenteeism rate (max. 1.5%), the board together with HR management decided to focus on vitality. Both colleagues and the organization can only be successful if employees are healthy and vital! "That is our common starting point in this." said Nick van der Wouden.
"The central question is: how can people get healthier or stay healthy?" Nick continues.
"ESET has developed a comprehensive vitality program in which sustained attention is paid to both physical and mental health through various themes. For example, ESET partially pays for a fitness subscription, vitality workshops are organized, and newsletters, podcasts, videos and articles are shared with employees."
In addition to physical and mental health, corona has also made another pillar extra important and that is the social aspect. Attention is also paid to this. Nick enthusiastically continues, "We have a work-at-home policy at ESET, but we are well aware that this can demand a lot from people. We try to support this as much as possible. By paying attention to this in communication and offering the possibility to come to the office to work from time to time."
ESET also offers employees the option of preventive counseling sessions and consultations with a psychologist. For treatment, they work with an occupational health and safety service and a company physician. But of course, they prefer to focus on prevention as much as possible by raising awareness among employees.

Simple Check conducted a comprehensive Health Check in February 2021 to get a clear and as complete as possible picture of the current health situation. A so-called "0" measurement. The Health Check consisted of:

In fact, there was so much enthusiasm in the team that colleagues who, for whatever reason, had not been able to participate were very disappointed. The employees were also very happy with the extensive feedback of the results in combination with specific tips and advice on what they could do with it. The group results also provided a lot of insight. Certain outcomes were very striking, especially in a young team. Consider exercise, smoking and sleep. The outcomes of the group report also form the basis of the themes in the vitality program. Everything is linked and by being open and transparent about this to the employees, everything feels like a logical step. This increases the involvement of the team."
ESET chooses to repeat the Health Check biennially and also to continue to use Simple Check's expertise in the interim by conducting small questionnaires and workshops, among other things.
