Body proportions

A good indication of body health is important. Measuring fat percentage, visceral fat, muscle mass, resting metabolic rate (energy consumption at rest), abdominal circumference and BMI provides a reliable picture.

Fat percentage

Fat percentage is an important indicator for determining your health. It shows how much fat the body is made up of. An ideal fat percentage depends on age and gender. The body needs fat as an energy reserve, but too much or too little fat can be detrimental to health. If the fat percentage is too low, the body may start burning muscles and organs instead of fat when exercising, ill or weak. If the percentage is too high, it increases the risk of heart failure and diabetes II.

Visceral fat

Visceral fat is the invisible fat and is found around the organs, in the trunk and in the abdomen. It protects our organs and keeps them working properly. However, with too much visceral fat, the organs do not function as well. This increases the risk of high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, diabetes II and cardiovascular disease.

Muscle mass

A healthy amount of muscle mass allows the body to be balanced, have more energy and burn fat. These benefits do not only occur in a body where muscle is visible. Regular exercise puts visible, as well as invisible muscles to work. To prevent body injuries, it is important that all these muscles work together. Running, for example, improves the ability of visible and invisible muscles to take in oxygen and provide energy.

Abdominal girth

The abdominal circumference says something about the amount of fat in the abdominal cavity. This amount of fat is not immediately visible. Only when the space around the organs is filled with fat, the fat becomes visible. Therefore, an ideal abdominal circumference is the basis for good health. If there is too much abdominal fat, the risk of cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes II, infertility, sleep apnea and poor lung function is greater.

BMI

BMI is an abbreviation for Body Mass Index. Based on body weight, height and age, BMI is calculated. The ratio of these three factors indicates whether a person is underweight, at a healthy weight or overweight. Simple Check measures this with a scale qualified to do so. BMI never stands alone. It is therefore important to measure it in conjunction with other values, such as blood pressure, cholesterol, fat percentage and muscle mass.

Resting Metabolism

Resting metabolism shows how much energy the body needs to keep the body functioning optimally. It determines 45 to 75% of the energy requirement, ensures normal body temperature, maintains the organs and regulates the building and breakdown of cells. The level of resting metabolism depends on time of day, body size, gender, age and diet, among other factors.
