Daiwa House: Working Together to Foster Healthy Employees

Daiwa House is building the homes of tomorrow—and is just as committed to investing in the health of its own employees. Read the story behind this long-standing partnership with Simple Check.

Who is Daiwa House Modular Europe?

Daiwa House Modular Europe is a leading European provider of modular housing solutions, born out of a partnership between Japan’s Daiwa House Group and modular builder Jan Snel. Combining international expertise with local market knowledge, Daiwa House Modular Europe delivers high-quality circular housing, while Jan Snel provides housing solutions for education, offices, industry, government, and healthcare. By manufacturing modules in the factory and assembling them on-site, construction times are reduced, quality is ensured, and disruption during construction is minimized.

From Legal Obligation to Structural Policy

Daiwa House’s RI&E revealed that a PAGO needed to be conducted. Daiwa House approached Simple Check for this purpose, but it soon became clear that the organization wanted to do more than simply meet this requirement. In the spirit of good employment practices, Daiwa House chose to combine this with a broader study into the sustainable employability of its employees.

Results Translated into Concrete Actions

That decision proved to be a wise one. The results revealed that, in addition to physical health, there was also plenty of room for improvement in the areas of work load, recovery, and the work environment. Instead of merely recording the results, Daiwa House took action. Since then, Simple Check has been working with Daiwa House on an ongoing basis. The Health Check program is consistently tailored to the various job categories within the organization, ensuring that the assessment accurately reflects the realities of both the office and production environments.

Prior to each new screening, a kick-off session is organized to ensure that employees are well-informed and aware of the importance of their own health and employability. During this session, there is time for questions, and employees learn what to expect. And, just as importantly, extensive attention is given to privacy and the procedures Simple Check follows in this regard.

Personal support for those who need it

We are currently working hard to schedule follow-up meetings for employees who fall within the risk profile. This is being done in collaboration with Daiwa House’s occupational health and safety service. To this end, Simple Check is deploying several coaches to personally guide these employees toward concrete improvements. Thus, what began as a mandatory check has evolved into an ongoing process, in which Daiwa House continues to invest, step by step, in the long-term employability of its employees.

In addition, the Health Check program is always tailored to the various job categories within the organization, so that the assessment accurately reflects the realities of the workplace—both in the office and on the production floor.

“From the very beginning, Daiwa House placed a strong emphasis on a meticulous approach: how best to structure the Health Check for both the office and production, and how best to tailor the results and follow-up to the organization’s needs. Those clear agreements made in advance, combined with Daiwa House’s proactive input, have allowed us to continue this partnership with great satisfaction for many years.”

Simple Check Project Consultant

One dedicated project advisor

On Simple Check’s side, the partnership is managed by a single dedicated project advisor, Bart van Schooten. This keeps communication straightforward and efficient, especially given the long-standing partnership and the various types of checks that are now being used.

“Because we’ve been working together for so long, we’re getting to know each other better and better—and, of course, the company as well. This allows us to implement an approach tailored to the target audience more effectively and quickly. As a result, people feel comfortable participating in the health check, which takes multiple perspectives and needs into account. I always really enjoy this kind of collaboration, and it’s also rewarding for me to achieve this together.”_said Bart van Schooten of Simple Check.

In conclusion

The partnership between Simple Check and Daiwa House demonstrates that a legal requirement can be the starting point for something much more valuable. By continuing to invest systematically in health and sustainable employability, Daiwa House is building, step by step, a healthy and vibrant organization.
