Tea healthy

There is now much evidence that tea reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease. For example, according to a study conducted by the University of Utrecht. This research shows, among other things, that those who drink several cups a day are about 30 percent less likely to have calcification of the arteries. They studied the eating habits of 37,000 Dutch people, whom they followed for thirteen years. Black and green tea in particular were found to be beneficial to health and contain bioactive substances such as flavonoids (antioxidants). These varieties come from the "tea plant" Camellia sinensis.

Although researchers try not to include other, common, healthy habits in their tea studies, it is difficult to attribute the beneficial effects from research to tea alone. For example, it appears that people who drink a lot of tea also fall into the category of people who exercise a lot, do not drink a lot of alcohol, smoke less and are often little to no overweight. These are all factors that greatly reduce the risk of conditions such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

Types of tea healthy

For black tea, the leaves of the tea bush are exposed to light and moisture. Oxidation creates the black color and strong taste, and the antioxidant content deteriorates somewhat. Green does not oxidize and contains more antioxidants than black tea. White tea is made from the leaves of young tea buds and also contains more antioxidants than black tea.

Herbal tea, such as rooibos or chamomile tea, is not a true variety because it does not come from the tea plant. It is an infusion of plants or fruits, or a mixture of herbs, flowers and spices such as licorice or chamomile. Therefore, herbal tea does not count with health benefits from the research. Incidentally, all sorts of medicinal values have traditionally been attributed to herbal tea, but they are hardly scientifically proven.

The Nutrition Center recommends drinking three cups of green or black tea every day. But you can also "just" drink a cup of rooibos tea if you like this. It always helps to at least get enough fluids, and it contains no calories. However, some herbal teas, such as licorice tea or star mix, can increase blood pressure. Therefore, do not drink these teas too much or too often.

Alternate with water

Alternate anyway with other drinks from the Five, such as water, coffee and milk. (Herbal) tea may contain plant toxins due to contamination during harvesting. If you drink a variety of drinks, the chance of ingesting large amounts of plant toxins is small.

Tea as part of a healthy lifestyle

Tea can be a valuable addition to a healthy lifestyle. Besides the health benefits, such as lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease and providing antioxidants, drinking tea healthily makes a difference in your daily habits. Drinking a hot cup of tea can create a moment of calm and mindfulness in a busy day. This helps to reduce stress, which also indirectly contributes to better overall health.

In addition, choosing to keep tea healthy by varying varieties and drinking it without sugar can help you ingest fewer calories. Green and black teas naturally contain no calories and are an excellent alternative to soft drinks or sweet juices. Therefore, for those who want to lose weight or pursue a healthier lifestyle, drinking tea healthy is a smart choice.

Drinking tea can also have social benefits. Drinking tea together with friends or family creates a moment of connection and relaxation. It can serve as a healthier replacement for other social habits, such as drinking alcohol.

In short, drinking tea healthily not only contributes to your physical health, but also enhances your mental peace and social interactions. A simple habit with a big impact!
